Video guide:
When will we need to put our shop in maintenance mode?
- Just after installing PrestaShop on a webserver.
- When we are going to make changes to our shop's design or anything that affects the front office.
- When trying to upgrade PrestaShop, theme or some modules.
- When there are any errors/warnings and we are debugging.
In another word, when we don't want our shop to be accessed by the public, we put it in maintenance mode.
How to put shop in maintenance mode?
To put your shop in maintenance mode in PrestaShop 1.7, go to "Shop Parameters > General" and then click on the "Maintenance" tab.
There are 3 options in this tab:
1. Enable Shop
To activate the maintenance mode, toggle "Enable Shop" to "No" and click save. If you check your front office you'll see the following message which we will modify in "Custom maintenance text".
2. Maintenance IP
When you put your shop in maintenance mode you may need to access the front office to debug or see changes. To do that you just need to click on "Add my IP" and click save. When you do this, front office is only accessible from this IP address. Remember, often this is your Router/Modem IP and anyone connected to that router/modem can access the front office.
If anyone else with access to the back office clicks on "Add my IP", their IP address will be added here after a comma. You could also type any IP address you want just after a comma.
3. Custom maintenance text
In the "Custom maintenance text" text editor, you can enter any information or message you like. You can enter text, insert images and videos, links, and any HTML code you want. After editing, don't forget to save changes.
Activate shop
After you are done designing or debugging, you need to activate your shop so everyone can access it. To do this, just go to the maintenance setting and set "Enable Shop" to yes and save. When your shop is in maintenance mode, there will be a quick access to maintenance page in top right corner of back office.
Please note that by deactivating the shop the Webservice will not be disabled. That is all you need to know about maintenance mode.
