Managing products by using csv files is recommended, you may find it’s not that easy at the beginning, but as time goes by, you would find that using csv files to manage product information would save a lot time.
Import/edit products by using csv files in prestashop.
Sample CSV files provided by PrestaShop1.7 are stored in the /docs/csv_import folder of your installation of PrestaShop, but 2 of them are wrong missing several columns, you can download corrected ones below.
Sample files for prestashop 1.7.1.x and 1.7.2.x
Prestashop17 sample csv files (231 downloads)
Sample files for prestashop 1.7.3.x
Prestashop 1.7.3 sample csv files (445 downloads)
The .zip file contains 3 files. Let’s go though them one by one.
1. The products.csv is used to import products.
ID column: you can use either ID or Reference to be the key column, I recommend using ID. Prestashop will use the key column to find correspond data to do modifications.
If you use ID column as key column, then don’t forget to enable the “Force all ID numbers” option before importing data from csv files.
If you use Reference column as key column, then don’t forget to enable the “Use product reference as key” option before importing data from csv files.
“Image URLs” column: Use absolute urls, like this http://yourdomain/productimages/1.jpg,http://yourdomain/productimages/2.jpg
2. The combinations.csv is used to add combinations to products you’ve added to your site.
Only two columns are required, one is the “Name” column, another is the key column, it can be ID or Reference.
