Basic database cleaner module for Prestashop
Clean up useless old data from your database to speed your site up.
If you have installed the "Data mining for statistics" module on your site, then it will constantly add new records to these 3 tables "ps_connection", "ps_connections_source" and "ps_guest". It's great for you to do data mining, but if your site has a lot of traffics, those tables will soon become huge, which will dramatically affect your site performance on both the front office and back office. Let take a look at what are those tables for.
- The ps_connection table, it's is for the "Data mining for statistics" module, the module will add a new record to the table for every new connection to store data like when and who connects to your site. The table can be huge if your site has a lot of traffics. It's totally okay to clean it up.
- The ps_connections_source table, it's also majorly used by the "Data mining for statistics" module, it stores data of where your site visitors come from, how people jump from one page to another, the table can also be huge. It's totally okay to clean it up.
ps_guest table, the "Data mining for statistics" module creates a record for every new visitors stored in the "guest" table to store information like browser types, screen resolutions, operating systems, languages, etc. It's totally okay to clean it up.
You can use this "Basic Prestashop database cleaner" module to cleans up those 3 tables to speed your site up. Why cleaning those tables can speed a site up? It's like looking for one thing amount 1000 items would be faster that looking for one thing amount 2000 items, for the ps_connection table and the ps_connections_source table, they can easily reach 10,000 records.
This is a very basic & simple module, but don't look it down, in some cases it can reduce the page loading time for several seconds. Since cleaning up database is an easy and great way to improve the page loading speed, we are working on creating an advanced database cleaner module which can fully clean the database up.
