Hello,
PS 1.7.6.4 + Panda 2.5.0.
I have three blog post lists, like this:
In Blog editor > Category page > Default sort by > Position Asc is set
This setting is applied to the list of blog_category_1 and blog_category_2, but it is not applied to the list of posts on the root of blog page, instead the Date Add Desc is used. Looks like it is a bug, or am I missing something?
I would like all blog post lists to use the Category page > Default sort by setting, as expected.
Side note: why is this option called “Default sort by”? Can the visitors set the sort order of posts on the front office? If not, then it should be called “Sort by” instead.
Thanks in advance,
Szabesz
Thank you Yobo, it does the trick!
Questions:
If I am not mistaken, there is no option to set the sort order to the “Created on” value of a post. This is rather strange, as the natural order of posts should be their “advertised created order” and not the actual one (not the one when the admin created it).
I am glad that the “advertised created order” can be set, as this is extremely(!) useful. However, currently I can only use the “Position: Asc” option and set the order manually. Of course, a column in the back office to sort by “Created on” would also be required, so that the administrator can match the sort order of the front office and the back office. In such a case, the manual ordering option is not required, I think.
Thanks for considering my feature request.

Szabesz
Hello Yobo,
Thanks for your reply!
1. No, as some customers need the sort order by recently added for the blog homepage only.
I might be mistaken, but I cannot imagine why anyone would need a hard coded sort order for the blog homepage, especially if the most recently added posts are not at the beginning but at the end.
Are you suggesting that new blog posts are OK being the last ones in a paginated list? I am asking this because this is exactly the issue when , ‘id_st_blog’, ‘DESC’ is NOT removed, that is why I created this support topic in the first palce.
If it was working as you are describing, then I would not want to change it but out of the box it works the other way round: oldest post is the first one, newest post is the last one, so the sort order is not Descending but Ascending even when , ‘id_st_blog’, ‘DESC’ is hardcoded in the template file.
Also, why using different terminoloy for the same thing? “Date added” is the synonym of “Created on” for sure, but it is confusing, especially that in the BO it is mispelled like this “Date add”, and it is not clear whether it is the real created date of the post or the “advertised one” set by “Created on”. Also, there is the option “Date update(ed)”, suggesting that it is the real date an admin modified the post, so this terminology is similar to “Date add” which is NOT the real date of creation.
I hope my reasoning makes sense.
Best regards
Szabesz
Thanks for getting back!
“Using the “id_st_blog, DESC” to ensure the new posts to show on first,”
I see. However, I am here to report that it works the other way round, at least for the site I am working on currently.
Regarding the “created date” terminology, I suggest using “Publish date” or “Published on” for the “advertised date” (the date which is rendered for the visitor) which is not confusing, I think.
