Hi again 🙂
I want to report a problem that I’m having with easychecout module. It’s a problem related with the switching shipping methods when changing countries.
It’s important to say that I’m coming from another OPC module, and I did not have that problem with it. Also I have exactly the same couriers and exactly the same configuration that I had with the old OPC module. To easy understand I made a video, please take a look at next private post.
Thank you.
2. Things work differently for logged in customers, they have to click Save button to save addresses, shipping methods will be updated when the address is saved.
You may ask why, because for logged in customers, they can manage their addresses there, for example if a customer has 3 address (A, B and C), A is set to be shipping address, if the customer edit A, then shipping address should be updated. For some reason the customer goes to edit B for a little bit, in this case, shipping methods shouldn’t be updated. For the same editing address event, two different actions will be taken, which may also cause confusion, so I decided to update shipping methods when addresses are updated, another reason of making the decision is that logged in customers don’t know how things work for guests, so I guess they won’t be confused.2. That makes sense 🙂
1. I also can’t reproduce the problem, easycheckout module uses the same validate methods as the native checkout feature, so wait to see if the problem occurs again.
Ok! I will update this post if I have news about this.
Thanks again for your help!
Hi Jonny,
Sorry but since I installed Easycheckout I’m receiving some complaints of customers that cannot complete their orders 🙁
I changed my OPC module from the famous “Supercheckout” from Knowband to your module, just because with Supercheckout it was slow, but I had no problems with that module.
The day after installed your module I started to receive messages from customers, the most common problem is when they add products to the cart, they go to the cart, and then click on “New Customer” and fill all the mandatory fields, they always get the error msg like is missing to fill some mandatory field.
I tried to reproduce the error in many ways but it’s impossible to me. If this were an isolated case it would not matter, but numerous people from different parts of Spain have contacted me about the same problem.
You say that your module works in the same way as the prestashop default cart module, but the only way that these customers can complete their orders is disabling your OPC module and leave the default as the enabled one. Only doing this, they can complete the orders.
I don’t know what more I can do about this, because I cannot reproduce the error 🙁
If I have more information about this I will contact you again. Thanks so much for your feedback.
This module is running on several sites which have a lot of orders per day, they don’t have the same problem. Since we both can’t reproduce the problem, so I cant’ fix it now. I will try to do some improvements the “New customer” form to make new customers be able to fill in their information correctly and easily to avoid having the problem, if you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks so much for your feedback.

I’m glad to inform that since the last update of your Easycheckout module, no one has reported problems regarding this. Thank you for your help and for hearing your customers 🙂
If there is any news I will update, but seems to be solved.
Best regards. Two possible reasons I can think of.
1. Browser cache. The customer visited your site before, at that time your site had a problem of validating post code.
2. Blank space, the customer may accidentally typed a blank space. If the post code is not that important, you can just set to don’t validate it.

Thank you for the reply.
Unfortunately in Spain and in practically all European countries, the postal code is mandatory to be able to send, so the field can’t be deleted. As this has happened several times and only since I have Easycheckout installed, I am sure that the problem is that the user puts some blank space before or after the digits.
Perhaps a good solution could be to make it not mandatory to put five digits in the postal code field. Make it a mandatory field but where the client can write whatever he wants. I think that would solve the problem, is it possible?Thank you!
I’ve released a small upgrade of this module without changing version number to trim blank spaces for Email, post code and phone number.
Please upgrade your one to have the feature.Hi Jonny, I downloaded the module again and installed, then cleared the caches. I’m still getting the error if I leave a space after postal code. See attach.
Thanks!
