Hi,
Prestashop 1.7 is using a new translation system, that is different 1.6, it requires .xlf files to provide translation source and target, see the documentation: http://panda2.sunnytoo.com/doc/index.php#how_to_translate
Best regards.
This is a real time waster for me. Nothing works as it should and every thing is very vague.
I downloaded the xlf files that claim Ducth is 87% translated and uploaded them to the indicated directory. Yet when I look at my page almost nothing is translated. See the attached image. Only “in cart” is translated. All the other words (I have encircled them) are not translated. Neither can I find a place where I could change that.
Hi,
Prestashop translations include two parts: translation in files and translation in the database. the file translations are saved in a .xlf file, most of them from theme .tpl files and Prestashop core .php file, that is what we did to offer the .xlf files. the other translations from the database, such as product name, category name, content on the Advanced custom content module, on the Custom links module and the Megamenu module, and so on, you need to the module settings page to find the translate them.
Please send me your backoffice access and FTP in a private reply, I will check the problem for you.
Best regards.
Your advices until now are very problematic. It looks like the theme is hardly maintained:
– you provided a link to http://panda2.sunnytoo.com/doc/index.php#how_to_translate
However, that puts you into an irrelevant section of a very big page. I only came further by clicking “translations” in the left column.
– unfortunately that brought me the next disaster: it advises you to copy the xlf files to the /theme/panda/translations/nl-NL directory. In the end I found that I shoudl copy to the /app/resources/translations/nl-NL directory instead.
– But still the problems aren’t over. I can now translate the modules. However, it appears that the 83% translation rate that you advertise for Dutch means nothing. All “translations” are copies of the English text.
Hi,
Maybe you didn’t download the correct file, Prestashop 1.7 is using a new translations system, that requires xlf file for all translations. I attached the file, please upload it to /themes/panda/translations/nl-NL folder, then rename the /var folder and clear the Smarty cache. if you want to change some text manually, go to BO > Translations pages, select “Theme translations” + “panda” + “Language”, then locate to the Shop > Theme > Panda section to translate them. the other sections are from Prestashop native modules and core code.
Best regards.
Hi,
1. The Admin.Theme.Transformer is for backoffice. generally, we don’t need to use it. if you want to translate the backoffice also, just go the BO > Modules > XLF generator module, generate backoffice xlf files, then you will find the error gone.
2. As I said, the front translations is under the Shop > Theme > Transformer section instead of the Admin > Shop > Transformer section.
Best regards.
